New Line for the Ashcroft Group.

BLT:

Governor, senator, attorney general, lobbyist and now banker: John Ashcroft is venturing into corporate finance. His eponymous lobbying and consulting firm of the former attorney general announced today that it has formed a strategic partnership with Communications Equity Associates, a Tampa-based firm which currently handles banking and private equity in the fields of entertainment, media, and communications.

The focus of the alliance is on bringing those sorts of services to a sector of Ashcroft's existing practice: homeland security.

Neither the Ashcroft Group nor CEA could be reached for comment on Monday, but in a joint statement they bill themselves as a one-stop destination for small and mid-sized global security firms seeking to identify and secure funding for ventures in such fields as port security, surveillance, and biometrics. The resulting business ventures, "will further enhance the liberty and security we all enjoy," Ashcroft says in the statement.
