Excerpts of Scotty McFelon's book: WHAT HAPPENED: Inside the Bush White House and What’s Wrong With Washington:
Public Affairs, who will be publishing the book, has posted this excerpt, which gives one a helping of insight into how McClellan views his years of service:
The most powerful leader in the world had called upon me to speak on his behalf and help restore credibility he lost amid the failure to find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. So I stood at the White house briefing room podium in front of the glare of the klieg lights for the better part of two weeks and publicly exonerated two of the senior-most aides in the White House: Karl Rove and Scooter Libby.
There was one problem. It was not true.
I had unknowingly passed along false information. And five of the highest ranking officials in the administration were involved in my doing so: Rove, Libby, the vice President, the President's chief of staff, and the president himself.
The Politico notes that McClellan intimated in a March 2007 appearance on Larry King Live that the President "did not originally know about the involvement by his aides."
McClellan: "I spoke with those individuals, ... and those individuals assured me they were not involved in this. ... said what I believed to be true at the time. It was also what the president believed to be true at the time based on assurances that we were both given. Knowing what I know today, I would have never said that back then."
Update: Valerie Plame Wilson responds to McFelon's book. From Americablog:
Valerie Plame just released the following statement in response to this new story:
Nov. 20, 2007 10pm EST
Santa Fe, New Mexico--I am outraged to learn that former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan confirms that he was sent out to lie to the press corps and the American public about two senior White House officials, Karl Rove and I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby who deliberately and recklessly revealed my identity as a covert CIA operations officer. Even more shocking, McClellan confirms that not only Karl Rove and Scooter Libby told him to lie but Vice President Cheney, Presidential Chief of Staff Andrew Card, and President Bush also ordered McClellan to issue his misleading statement. Unfortunately, President Bush's commutation of Scooter Libby's felony sentence has short-circuited justice.Vice President Cheney in particular knew that Scooter Libby was involved because he had ordered and directed his actions. McClellan's revelations provide important support for our civil suit against those who violated our national security and maliciously destroyed my career.

I hope all the DOJ lawyers in every state read this as well as the Law Makers.
Scott McClellan should lawyers up as he lied for the White House. Now the new puppet AG Mike has his work cut out for him. Let a super corrupt lawyer/Judge name Mark Filip handle this matter. Yes Mark was reward for his good work at covering up crimes for the White House as a Judge in Chicago. Mark's a slickster and will do anything to move up the latter. If this case needs a Special Prosecutor Marks the man for the job. He will take his sneaky ways to twist the truth and lie when needed. Now we know the Judge in the Plame civil suit was paid by the White House. If a person with no legal knowledge could see Plame had a solid case yet a so called experienced Judge couldn't you now know why. As we see with friends and follow criminals of the White House when US Attorney Rachel Paulose a true racist and wing nut worked hard to get honest lawyers out and replace them with Bushies. She was under investigation so what does the White House do they give her a job in Washington. Our jails would be cleared out if every criminal was a friend and Bushie who followed the direction of our Dictator Dick Cheney and his puppet baby George.
I look forward to the War Crimes charge the United Nations will bring against the Bush Administration. Daddy Bush will again step in to save his idiot coward drunken drug baby boy George. Cheney will pull the health problem and Rummy should already be in a nursing home.
I was glad to see that Gonzo has to crawl and look like the idiot he is to get a dime. The College made a fool of him and it's more to come. I know Gonzo is thinking he wishes he had stayed in the family business. Maybe his drug dealing sister Teresa can sell some drugs and help cover his legal fees.
I look for the Wilsons with their attorney, Melanie Sloan to name McFelon in their civil lawsuit. And thanks to McFelon, He adds more evidence in their favor that the three amigos: little soldier, Supreme Leader Dick, and Tubby McTreason Rove and the 10 John Doe Gov't officials named that these individuals plotted to want Plame's name leaked and violated National Security.
Their appeal of their civil suit will be quite interesting.
This is just the beginning, just the start, the closer this administration gets to vacating the WH the more tales will be told.
