Fredotv: The Life of a Public Servant.

BLT:

Former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales told a Corpus Christi, Texas civic group Thursday night that "mistakes" are expected when serving in public office.

Speaking before the local Hispanic chamber of commerce, Gonzales said being a public servant was not an easy task, according to The Caller-Times newspaper.

"Mistakes are going to happen, but the American people don't expect perfection," Gonzales was quoted as saying.

"They expect efforts in good faith."

Speaking to a local TV station reporter afterward, Gonzales had some words of advice for his successor:

“To do the right thing. I have every confidence that Mike Mukasey will do the right thing. Always do the right thing, follow the law," Gonzales said in the interview. That’s always [been] my lodestar, my guiding principle, and I’m sure that will guide [Attorney] General Mukasey.”

Gonzales' appearance in his native Texas this week comes a few days before he's scheduled to give a speech at the University of Florida in Gainesville, paid for by student fees in the amount of $40,000.

It's unknown how much the Corpus Christi Hispanic Chamber of Commerce paid Gonzales, and officials there didn't return repeated phone calls. More than 1,000 people paid to attend the chamber's event and hear the keynote speech.

"Do the right thing." Man, that's a frickin joke!!! A simple amen to Ms. Williams at Pomona College. The title speaks for itself:

Alberto Gonzales is a Criminal, Not a Speaker
Bringing the former Attorney General to campus would not contribute to any discussion

To bad Gonzo didn't do the right thing while he held the AG job. The videos of his testimony said it all. He really thought his best friend George would save him as he did everything he was told without question. Rove and Cheney run all over him and treated him like dirt but his buddy George always praised him and yes he got George the Spanish votes he needed. Now Gonzo is alone and most of the GOP don't even know him or act like they don't know him. Look all the other Bush criminal appointees got jobs even the idiot Karl Rove. Yet Gonzo has to bag for money for a defense fund. I bet he knows he's Spanish now.
