TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- The second summit of the heads of the Caspian Sea littoral states is scheduled to kick off work here in Tehran tomorrow.
During the meeting which will be attended by the presidents and foreign ministers of the Caspian Sea littoral states - Iran, Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan - participants are due to discuss different Caspian-related issues and their impacts on the five littoral states as well as other significant regional and international developments.
"A discussion of the legal regime of the Caspian Sea and multilateral cooperation among the littoral states as well as a review of the regional and international issues are among the main agenda of the meeting," Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyed Mohammad Ali Hosseini told reporters during a weekly press conference last month.
"Participant heads of state are expected to give out a final statement at the end of the summit," he added.
Foreign ministers of the Caspian Sea littoral states in a meeting in Tehran on June 20 prepared a draft statement for the upcoming summit.
The foreign ministers also said they were confident that the upcoming summit would give rise to a fresh movement for developing relations and boosting multilateral cooperation among the said states.
In their meeting, the foreign ministers of the littoral states also studied a draft convention prepared by their deputies on the Caspian Sea legal regime, and reiterated that the talks - which they described as "positive" - should continue.
The ministers also said they were satisfied to see that the convention on the framework of the Caspian Sea Environmental Protection (Tehran Convention) has been put into effect, and called for the rapid compilation of complementary protocols.

No invitation for the US to bad. Looks like the lam duck President Bush is being shut out. Look for more to come as all the Leaders get a good laugh at the Bush Administration.
I watched 60 Minutes with an interview with the Head of Dubai. Now that's a smart man and let's say he's not to pleased with the White House. Now he like the American people but he refuse to say what he thought of the White House. Looks like Cheney will be put out of the World Power Club.
Cheney got out beat by the Middle East and that will be his legacy.
Now Dick will need Lynn to write another dirty book to get money.
All of these Summits always end up with the "Gerbil Theme" or rather how to deal with the Gerbil Administration, I suspect this one will be no different, funny how the Gerbil Administration is not invited but is bringing other countries together to work on a common problem.
