Putin's thoughts of the Iraq war.
Russian President Vladimir Putin slammed the Iraq war yesterday, stating, "it's absolutely pointless to fight with a people." "It is absolutely unacceptable to keep the occupation force in place in Iraq for eternity," he added, emphasizing his support for a "date for withdrawal."

Putin "widely popular in his country" yes, because he is really concerned about his country, that's why he is the first Russian leader to visit Iran since 1943, he was at the CSO Summit, the Caspian Sea, etc.....not sending girl Friday out to Israel.
