Hill to Thomas: "I stand by my testimony."

So writes Anita Hill in Tuesday's New York Times, the woman whose sexual harrassment charges unsettled the nomination hearings of Clarence Thomas some 16 years ago.

Addressing his new book, “My Grandfather’s Son," Hill, a Brandeis sociology professor currently in residence at Wellesley, writes, "I will not stand by silently and allow him, in his anger, to reinvent me."

"Justice Thomas offers a litany of unsubstantiated representations and outright smears that Republican senators made about me when I testified before the Judiciary Committee — that I was a “combative left-winger” who was “touchy” and prone to overreacting to “slights,” she says. "A number of independent authors have shown those attacks to be baseless. What’s more, their reports draw on the experiences of others who were familiar with Mr. Thomas’s behavior, and who came forward after the hearings. It’s no longer my word against his."

In his book, Thomas portrays Hill's attack as part of a campaign by special interest groups Powerful interest groups to use "the age-old blunt instrument of accusing a black man of sexual misconduct."

Meanwhile, with Clarence Thomas:

Clarence Thomas loves right-wing blogs.

Last night, the Heritage Foundation hosted a dinner for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and “a small number” of conservative “bloggers and New Media members.” During the dinner, Thomas told the right-wing bloggers “several times” that he was “very impressed with the work” they do:

He told us that he had deliberately wanted to spend the first day of his book launch with New Media journalists, noting specifically that he felt good about avoiding the Supreme Court press on the occasion. Thomas explained that he wished we’d been around in 1991, that we could have made sure that the facts of the case came to light. We could have worked around the mainstream media narrative, he told us, and stated several times that he was very impressed with the work we did.

James Joyner has
the list of who was present at the dinner.

Hill was a diversion from the fact that Clarence Thomas wasn't qualified for the job of Justice.

Clarence sees his grandfather and his mother when he sleeps. He is trying to defend his actions by telling his side of the story. He knows he will never go to heaven or be forgiven for taking the 30 pieces of sliver from the Republican party. After he completes the orders given by the GOP he will resign to spend time with his family as he wont be needed any more just like Gonzales.
