Wow, that won't score points for the faith based groups..
From Crooks and Liars:
On Wednesday’s Countdown, Keith Olbermann and The Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza discuss what could potentially be a major gaffe in Republican presidential candidate Fred Thompson’s campaign. It seems Thompson told a group of South Carolina Republicans that he’s right with God, but doesn’t attend church regularly, except when he visits his mother. He also said that he doesn’t want to talk about religion in the campaign — which will undoubtedly go over like a lead balloon with the far right, evangelical base of the Republican party. I can only imagine Rudy and Mitt will thank the Lord for this little gift…

He just lost the bible belt on that one.
Not so quick Third generation.
The might still have the Bush Base as what you think isn't always the way they think. This is a group of church people who believe God wanted Bush to be President. This Christian group excuse sinful conduct of some while preaching at others. Notice none of the Christin base said much about Fingers Foley molesting kids or Vitter with his hired Prostitutes. Even now the Pastor who had sex with a gay is now back in the church preaching and going to a retreat with his wife at the churches experience. Once the Church joined the White House and now has an office next to the Oval Office it seems the Church has been brought and paid for. Interesting the bible say be careful of those who preach the word of God but are really working for Satan.
Fred is just trying to keep the current Administrations policies going until some country invades and controls the United States of America.
