There has been so much hoopla about MoveOn.org's ad on Petreaus in the NY Times. No wonder we have so many problems with the lawmakers and division in this country..
Dems join GOP in slamming ad attacking Petraeus — WASHINGTON (CNN) - A liberal advocacy group's print ad attacking Gen. David Petraeus drew a firestorm of criticism from both sides of the aisle on Monday. — The ad, running in Monday's edition of the New York Times, shows a picture of Petraeus.
This came in an email to me from DemoracyforAmerica.org:
Petraeus will claim a 75% reduction of violence since the surge started and will use multiple cherry-picked statistics to spin the White House's case. How did they cook the books?
For starters, they changed the definition of violence:
The Los Angeles Times reports that people killed in car bombings don't count.¹
The Washington Post reports that victims shot in the face don't count.²
The Center for Strategic and International Studies reports that Shi'a vs. Shi'a and Sunni vs. Sunni violence doesn't count.³
It is offensive that our commander-in-chief has ordered a four-star general to mislead Congress. But it will be criminal if Congress follows along.
On a side note: let's not forget these individuals (there is maybe more) that are feeding the koolaid to the public in the Iraq War propaganda that never served in a war and/or military. Here we go:
George W. Bush – never served in Vietnam, went AWOL from National Guard
Dick Cheney - 5 deferments, never served
Rudy Guiliani – never served
Newt Gingrich – never served
Trent Lott – never served
Mitch McConnell - did not serve.
Dana Rohrabacher - never served
John M. McHugh - never served
Spencer Abraham - never served
Elliott Abrams – never served
Richard Perle – never served
Douglas Feith - never served
Jon Kyl - never served
Tim Hutchison - never served
Christopher Cox - never served
George Will – never served
Chris Matthews – never served
Bill O’Reilly – never served
Sean Hannity - never served
Rush Limbaugh - never served
Michael Savage - never served
Bill Bennett – never served
Pat Buchanan – never served
Bill Kristol – never served
Mitt Romney-never served
Fred Thompson-never served

Looks like those who didn't serve in the Military have the most to say about staying the course. Makes since because if they had been men and served the country when needed they'd know what our troops are going through.
