This is an update on Fitzgerald's case on former and now convicted Governor Ryan:
Former Gov. George Ryan’s conviction on corruption charges has been upheld, a federal appeals court ruled today.
The 7th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals ruling was not unanimous, though. The three-judge panel turned down Ryan’s request for a new trial by a 2-1 decision.
Ryan had been appealing the conviction on the basis that it was handed down by a tainted jury, as well as other evidence-related issues.
We conclude that the district court handled most problems that arose in an acceptable manner, and that whatever error remained was harmless,” Judge Diane Wood wrote in the majority opinion.
“In the end, the evidence supporting the jury’s verdict was overwhelming,” Wood also wrote.
Ryan’s lawyers are planning to discuss the decision at a news conference this afternoon.
The U.S. attorney’s office had no immediate comment.

Yes, poor Ryan in such poor health and needing to take care of his wife that is why he goes on vacations without her and is out until 3 AM. When? Or if ever? will this guy be in jail? Cook County Jail is busting at the seams with inmated who have done a small.....small fraction of crime this guy has done.
The man belongs in prison: health or not.
