The Bush Way: My Way Or I'll Scare You Some More

From Leftcoaster:

Bush, December 2006:
(Bush) never seriously considered beginning to withdraw U.S. forces, as urged by newly elected Democratic congressional leaders and the bipartisan Iraq Study Group. And he had grown skeptical of his own military commanders, who were telling him no more troops were needed.

So Bush relied on his own judgment that the best answer was to try once again to snuff out the sectarian violence in Baghdad, even at the risk of putting U.S. soldiers into a crossfire between Sunni insurgents and Shiite militias. When his generals resisted sending more troops, he seemed irritated. When they finally agreed to go along with the plan, he doubled the number of troops they requested.

Bush today:

"I believe that it's in this nation's interests to give the commander a chance to fully implement his operations, and I believe Congress ought to wait for General Petraeus to come back and give us an assessment of the strategy that he's putting in place before they make any decisions," Bush said at a town-hall style appearance.

"That's what the American people expect," he added. "They expect for military people to come back and tell us how the military operations are going, and that's the way I'm going to play it as the commander in chief."

The American people have spoken and the Gerbil isn't listening but it sounds good to lie about it.
We've heard his remarks before that he would listen to his Generals yet with they say withdraw he fires them and gets another yes General. This line is getting old fast.
