Well, looks like McRove hired a new deputy. From Thinkprogress:
Karl Rove has hired a deputy, the new White House political director Jonathan Felts, to replace Sara Taylor.
“He’s one of the political geniuses of our time,” Felts said of Rove. “It’s neat to see how his mind works.” […]
Felts didn’t have to move far in his new job: down a floor and across the hall to an office in the Executive Office Building, which is across the street from the White House. Before this appointment, he was Vice President Dick Cheney’s assistant for political affairs. He previously was associate director of the White House Office of Political Affairs.
He also has worked for several other GOP politicians, including former Sen. Lauch Faircloth of North Carolina and former Vice President Dan Quayle.
And a replacement for Bartlett:
Former Republican National Committee chairman Ed Gillespie “has emerged as a potential replacement to Dan Bartlett as counselor to President Bush. … After taking the reins of the national party in 2003, Gillespie was part of the Bush-Cheney inner circle in the 2004 campaign. He also served a key role for the White House in shepherding Supreme Court justices Samuel Alito and John Roberts through the Senate confirmation process after Bush’s reelection.”
