ABC’s Charles Gibson bitchslaps Fox News

From Thinkprogress:

[D]on’t disparage the mainstream media. The editor of your hometown newspaper or the producers of network newscasts don’t have 30 or 40 years of experience for nothing. When you see a news organization get fixated on non-stop coverage of Paris Hilton, or Anna Nicole Smith, or Michael Jackson, go elsewhere.
When an announcer says, “It’s a report you have to see,” you probably don’t. When an anchor says, “shocking details,” they probably aren’t. When a reporter claims his news is “fair and balanced,” it probably isn’t. And, when politicians say, “I’m going to level with you,” they probably won’t.

Speaking of Fox - why are they the only ones reporting this story:?

=Alqaeda on their way to the USA>http://blogs.abcnews.com/theblotter/2007/06/exclusive_suici.html

Is it all a bunch of propaganda - or does everyone just look at our border security and say "hey, that just looks too damn tempting!"

oops... let's try that again.

Suicide Bombers on their way to the USA

Interesting article, Patriot Girl. I didn't hear about that one. Yes, that is a good question: is it propaganda or truth?

Well the fear has got to be put back into Americans so the GOP can continue to steal. The White House uses Al Qaeda when needed as they do with Bin Liden. Once Americans stop feeling fearful the White House brings back those words. As Tucker said there has to be a bombing in America for people to stop looking at the crimes committed by the White House. Draw the attention away for the facts and turn it to fear and 9/11. American will fall in line and look to the Decider to save us.

Charles Gibson is trying to push up his ratings. He gets a pay check just like all the other media people. Remember Charlie works for ABC the same station that put out the movie based on lies. Charlie complain about the pictures of the Va. Tech killer while showing the same thing on his show. What's that tell you about ABC. Right now the only fair/balance news is the Spanish channel, overseas media and the Web news sites.

yep... can't find this topic anywhere else, so Ms Jackie may be right.

Funny though.... this brings back a thought - some time ago I was shopping at Old Navy. I spotted a couple of men in their 30's/40's shopping together. They were of Middle Eastern descent. The fact that they weren't speaking English, and loading up their shopping cart with boys' clothes, I guess caught my attention. Their shopping cart was litterally overflowing with clothes dragging everywhere.

So anyone think that's fishy besides me? I called the local police department, when I got out to my car, just to see what they thought about something like that. They didn't seem interested. Guess they didn't think it important enough to check. Later I told my family about it, and was chastized by my sister for being 'paranoid' as she put it, and putting them into a 'category' as she called it.

I am not sure if what I did was wrong, as I just wanted to make sure they were on the level in these crazy times. So who knows what is the right and wrong thing to do these days? I know many of these people are fleeing their countries to get away from suppression, and I try to be very friendly to the ones I meet. I mean... you think that the ones that come here want peace and a healthy place to raise their families, right?

I have a middle-eastern family that moved into my neighborhood about a year ago. I have made a concerted effort to intoduce myself and try to be neighborly. The entire family (grandma, grandpa, sons, wives & grandkids) all live in one house, but don't own a vehicle yet. I see them (the men) walk to work every day, as they purchased the convenient store down the street and now run it. I went in there to purchase cigarettes and tried to introduce myself and be welcoming. I have never felt so shunned in all my life. They were very rude and ignored me standing at the counter for like 5 minutes. I was the only one in the store. I wave to the old man every time I see him walking to work or pushing his gransdson in his stroller, but he just gives me a dirty look and then looks the other way. Part of me thinks it's because I am a woman. But even the grandmother won't acknowledge me.
