Yesterday we learned this:
President Bush, trying to defend his war strategy, declassified intelligence Tuesday asserting that Osama bin Laden ordered a top lieutenant in early 2005 to form a terrorist cell that would conduct attacks outside Iraq - and that the United States should be the top target.
Isn't this the same nimrod that declassified part of the NIE concerning Iraq in mid 2003 according to Scooter Libby and tried to defend his reasons to the public? Libby said he'd been told in mid-2003 by Cheney that Bush authorized "declassifying" parts of the NIE. Bush, speaking at Johns Hopkins University's school of international studies, said "there were questions in people's minds" about the basis of his decision to go to war with Iraq. He declassified the report, Bush said, so that the public would see "the truth" about his reasons.
I smell a coverup or CYA by President Gerbil. From those who are questioning whether Bush can declassify documents. Yes, he can.
Executive Order (E.O.) 12958
Sec. 1.4. Classification Authority. (a) The authority to classify information originally may be exercised only by:
(1) the President;
(2) agency heads and officials designated by the President in the Federal Register; or
(3) United States Government officials delegated this authority pursuant to paragraph
On footnote: According to President Bush, he declassfied parts of the NIE on July 18, 2003. That was four days after reporter Bob Novak's article on July 14, 2003 in which leaked Ms. Valerie Plame Wilson's CIA covert identity.

Fool us once, shame on you. Fool us twice, shame on us. I'm not buying the fish tale that bin Laden gave orders about Iraq recently. He's hiding the WMD, too, right? Ha!
Kittybowtie:
Of course that bullcrap. Why would you declassify info on a man that we still haven't found yet? And don't you find it amazing that the Gerbil declassify Bin Laden intel and yet outsource the Bin Laden hunt? I don't believe that BS that Bin Laden gave order in Iraq not more than I believe that he declassified parts of the NIE of Iraq because he wants the public to know the truth.
Yeah, ask the Gerbil these questions, kittybowtie: did Bin Laden hide the WMD and is Bin Laden responsible for Global Warming? ;-)
