Conrad Black trial delayed by jury issues

Trial starts tomorrow...

The start of Conrad Black's criminal fraud trial was delayed until Tuesday after his lawyers complained that publicity about a key witness against the former media baron might have tainted the jury.

Judge Amy St. Eve of the U.S. District Court agreed on Monday to quiz each potential juror in a final group of 20 after Black's lead attorney, Edward Genson, told her he had "real concerns" about Black getting a fair trial.

"It impacts what we want, and what everyone wants in this case, which is a fair trial," Genson told the judge.
St. Eve later delayed swearing in the jury and the start of opening statements until Tuesday. In addition to the questions raised by Genson, there was a glitch when one member of the jury group failed to show up in court because of a miscommunication, a lawyer involved in the case said.

The question posed by Genson involved two settlements made within the past three days by Black's former partner, David Radler, and whether the jurors might have been exposed to publicity about them.
Radler, who was instrumental in expanding Black's global publishing empire through Hollinger International Inc. over more than three decades, has pleaded guilty in the case and is the key prosecution witness

More on the story.

Well we are full of media in this town for this. This will benefit the city for the hotels, restaurants, entertainment, etc.
I came here to see where the list of indictments for Chicago was? Let me know where you posted Beavers, Stroger, Troutman.
Oh and Tank Johnson our Chicago Bear guy is already in Cook County Jail. The Troutman trial will be good especially since she is claiming conspiracy why she was blown away at election by a Police SGT. That's what happens when residents in your Ward want gang bangers out and the Alderman's boyfriend is a gang leader and all his buddies hang out in the Ward. Conspiracy! The White powder found in her home and office has her talking crazy like this.
