Let's not forget the journalists...
Paris- The year 2006 was one of the worst years for journalists worldwide, with 81 reporters killed while practising their profession in more than 21 countries, said Paris-based organization Reporters without Borders (RSF) on Sunday. The last time the death toll was higher was in 1994 with 103 killed, the organization stated, adding that the 2005 death toll was 63.
In addition, 56 journalists were kidnapped, primarily in Iraq and the Gaza Strip. A further 32 people - including drivers, translators and technicians - were killed aiding journalists, compared to five in 2005. For the fourth year running, Iraq was the most dangerous country for the media, with 64 journalists and their support personnel killed.
Iraq was followed by Mexico, with nine dead, and the Philippines, with six. In 2006, at least 871 journalists were arrested, 1,472 attacked or threatened and 921 media outlets censored, according to RSF.

It's hard to get the real story if your best journalists are afraid to go where it is happening.
I think that the journalists in this country should take lesson from the late Ireland female journalist, Veronica Gerruin. She didn't back down from the threats and assaults from the top druglords that she was investigating which costed her life..
Correction:
Veronica Guerin...
Journalist are the ones in Chicago that uncovered the scandals with George Ryan (former Governor, and Daley and his patronage chief), I was watching a bunch of our prominent political reporters in Chicago discussing the more scandalous story of the year and.......The Stroger thing kept coming up as the top of everyone's list! Well these reporters need to go get some more dirt and bring it to the 216 S. Dearborn address (DOJ building)
