Skilling get a free pass from prison during his appeal

HOUSTON (Reuters) - A U.S. appeals court will allow ex-Enron Chief Executive Jeffrey Skilling to stay out of prison while it considers granting him bail, according to a report published on the Wall Street Journal's Web site on Monday.

Skilling was scheduled to report to a federal prison in Minnesota on Tuesday to begin a 24-year sentence for his role in hiding Enron's financial condition from investors as the company's fortunes eroded prior to its 2001 collapse.
Skilling attorney Daniel Petrocelli told the paper he found out Monday evening the Fifth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals would allow Skilling to remain under house arrest while it considers granting him bail during his appeals of fraud and conspiracy convictions.

When I heard about Skilling's free pass from prison and now on house arrest, it really irritated me.. Here is a man who scammed people, employees, and investors over billions in Enron and cooked the books. He gets a free pass but Ms. Martha Stewart that was sentenced to obstruction of justice and lying to investigators had to report to prison for 5 months.. Unbelievable....

At least Martha has recovered, I saw her on Larry King last night.
Tom Skilling is our weatherman on WGN & the Chicago Tribune in Chicago, I'll bet Jeff wishes he did something a little more honest. I wonder what he had to say when his brother studied Meteorology?

LOL! Yeah, Jeff should switched careers... As far as Martha Stewart.. Remember, Martha Stewart has a five year ban on being involved in the market and her stocks and no control as CEO of her empire.. That was part of the deal that she cut with the feds. But, again, she is a very smart woman. There is rumor that she is training her daughter to lead her company... Her daughter is in her '40's.. But, Skilling is not barred from anything.. Now, Arthur Andersen, the accounting company that was charged in Enron scandal for shredding document practically got a slap on a wrist: a 500,000 fine, no jail time, and barred five years to have an accounting firm.. Think what the employees who lost their jobs from that firm think about Arthur Andersen!

Unfortunalty I do know people who were out of work from the Arthur Anderson office in Chicago. It took some of them quite a while to find another job considering the poor state of affairs in this country at the time.

Arthur Anderson screwed the employees. He made the employees think he was innocent and they went on a bandwagon to defend Anderson and told them that their jobs were safe.. And he laid all of them off... Many employees are still angry of what that company did to them...
