Eavesdropping Bill Stalls in Committee

Thanks to Feingold!

Eavesdropping Bill Stalls in Committee

President Bush's support proved insufficient to push a bill authorizing his warrantless wiretapping program through the Senate Judiciary Committee Thursday. Sen. Arlen Specter, the committee's chairman, said the bill stalled because of election-year obstructionism. "We have seen the incipient stage of filibuster by amendment," the Pennsylvania Republican testily declared as he called off a vote to move his bill to the Senate floor. "Filibuster by speech, filibuster by amendment. Obstructionism." The target of his ire was Sen. Russell Feingold, D-Wis., who spoke against the bill for about a quarter of the panel's two-hour meeting and offered four amendments. Feingold, a possible presidential candidate, said Specter's bill would give the White House too much power to eavesdrop without a warrant in some circumstances. "The president has basically said: I'll agree to let a court decide if I'm breaking the law if you pass a law first that says I'm not breaking the law," Feingold said. "That won't help re-establish a healthy respect for separation of powers. It will only make matters worse."

Opposition to the bill was no surprise. Feingold and five other senators, three of them Republicans, wrote Specter a day earlier complaining that a new version of his bill should be studied further before the panel votes. Forced to delay his committee's vote, Specter grumbled that without his legislation the White House would continue its domestic wiretapping program virtually unchecked by the courts.

Kittybowtie don't worry Feingold's tie is macking it hits the mark. The tie has the colors that mix with the suit. Feingold's skin color is ok for the light suit with dark tie. He's kind of olive complexion it's cool. Yes Feingold is nice looking and single and smart. But I guess if I had to look I'd pick Mr. Wilson. Now he's fine.

Well, kittybowtie, if Feingold ever became President, every woman with or without underwear would want Feingold. So, you have to wait in line.. I bet Coultergeist would have the hots for Feingold since she is trying to find a man... I can only comment as a man that he is an intelligent person and very sharp dresser. I am glad that he is sticking to his guns with the wiretapping and domestic spying.. I am glad that he is fighting the Administration than caving in..

What Feingold needs to worry about not all the women but Karl Rove! Rove came out the closet so he may ask Feingold to be the first lady! LOL!

I was joking about Coultergeist and Feingold.. Feingold has much class. Coultergeist may be in law but she is way out there... And if Joe Wilson was single, he would be caught dead with Coultergeist.. But, Coultergeist is looking for a man. What man would want her when her large adam apple and her appearance looks like a man? The nice prosecutor better watch out because she may eye the rugby man. And if I were the rugby man, I would tell Coultergeist that have all my shots for the year and I haven't gotten a rabies shot yet. LOL!
