Board Members Accuse Stroger Of Changing County Budget

From today's episode, Urkelgate, on ScumTV:

CHICAGO (WBBM) -- Some Cook County Board members are accusing President Todd Stroger’s office of making illegal changes to the budget that was passed by the Board.

WBBM Political Editor Craig Dellimore reports the Stroger Administration is denying it.County Commissioners Michael Quigley and Forrest Claypool say the Stroger Administration has simply changed some parts of the budget, reducing some expenditures.

He says—for example—nearly a million and a half dollars was cut from the Assessors’ budget for salaries. Overtime for Police and Court services was cut. Quigley says—by law—the President cannot change line items approved by the Board.

But, Administration special counsel Rich Velazquez says the only changes made were for things like correcting errors or inconsistencies.

Quigley contends even "minor" changes require board approval. Velazquez says no. He says such minor changes have always been the procedure.

You are right. And I hope Urkel is taking off the streets of Chicago real soon. The taxpayers in Cook county deserve better.
