Joe Scarborough: Obama’s trying to ‘buy off people.’ With ‘Pure, Straight Socialism’

Thinkprogress:

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough went off on a tear against President Obama’s proposed stimulus plan this morning, slamming tax credits for people who, according to him, “don’t pay taxes.” “It’s not even welfare!” he shouted, and accused Obama of trying to “buy off your constituents”:

SCARBOROUGH: You’re not going to get Republicans to line up and support tax cuts for people who don’t pay taxes. That’s taking you to a position now where you have the federal government — and this is very dangerous — just writing checks to people for doing nothing. It’s not even welfare. … If you want pure straight socialism, if you want to buy off people, do that.

Commentary: There is an old saying that your past can come back to haunt. This is in the case of Scarborough. Memo to Scarborough: Remember the name Lori Klausutis? It is my only hope that the mysterious death of Ms. Klausutis is reopened by the new AG Eric Holder. Who is Lori Klausutis?

The staffer to then-Congressman Joe Scarborough come to die in his Florida office in July, 2001. Scarborough announced his early retirement from Congress in May 2001, effective September 2001, the announcement coming six months after being re-elected to a fourth term. He divorced his first wife in May 1999, and remarried in October 2001. Here is where this becomes suspicious:

The Medical Examiner had already been run out of two states for incompetence, and was later run out of this job too, but not before ruling the death of Lori Klausutis-- involving a hairline skull fracture --resulted from an "accidental" fall as a result of a "heart condition" [which was claimed as the cause of her death. At first, her death was ruled accidental and no sign of trauma] that didn't exist.

And this:

Florida TV News Transcript, May 25, 2001

U-S REPRESENTATIVE JOE SCARBOROUGH MAKES AN EMOTIONAL EXIT FROM HIS SEAT IN CONGRESS. HE IS RETIRING BECAUSE OF A CONFLICT WITH HIS CONGRESSIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AS A FATHER. SCARBOROUGH WAS VAGUE ABOUT HIS FUTURE PLANS. HE SAYS HE HAS SPOKEN TO PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH AND EXPECTS A PRESIDENTIAL APPOINTMENT. HE HAS ALSO HAD OFFERS FROM SEVERAL LAW FIRMS, INCLUDING THE LEVIN LAW FIRM HERE IN PENSACOLA. HE SAYS SEVERAL T-V NETWORKS HAVE ALSO APPROACHED HIM ABOUT WORKING FOR THEM. THE CONGRESSMAN BROKE DOWN INTO TEARS WHEN HE EXPLAINED WHY HE IS MAKING THIS MOVE. HE SAYS THERE IS NO STORY BEHIND THE STORY. HE'S BEEN TORN BETWEEN PUBLIC SERVICE AND SPENDING MORE TIME WITH HIS HIS 10 AND 13 YEAR OLD SONS.

  1. Joe Scrarborough should be more worried about AG Eric Holder doing an investigatiion into the murder of Scarborough's aide Lori Klausutis. Yes it seem Joe had an appointment the same time his aide Lori was murdered, then the cornor was fired because he wanted to release the cause of murder. Quickly Rep. Scarborough closed shop and sealed everything with the help of Political friends and moved on to a TV job. Yes folks all this was during the Florida criminal election of GW. Lori's murder was kept from the Media and she was buried without anything about her written. It was as if she never lived at all.
Now I will request AG Eric Holder investigate this and others cases that the GOP have done over the pass 8 years many bodies have been buried by these guys.

  2. Thanks for posting this info about "Morning Joe". I knew there was something about a dead woman in his life but didn't know where to look. Big mouths usually have the most to hide, huh?

  3. You are welcome Anon. This case of this young aide was a cover-up. Why and who are questions to be asked. Too many holes in this woman's death and Scarborough's quick resignation from Congress remain questionable.
